The Strength Behind My Weakness

It is so blatantly obvious I cannot handle this life on my own.

I am always falling behind, always trying and failing. I stay overwhelmed and frustrated. I try to hide from my many weaknesses and minimize them and wish them away. I ignore my weaknesses or pretend they don’t exist.

I try so very hard to improve and just be better.

God’s Word says we are to do the opposite.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

When I look past the frustration and embarrassment and fear (that I carry around all day), I see that my imperfections are a direct link to the Almighty.

Seeing my weaknesses for what they truly are is a game changer.

He already knows all the things we struggle with. And yet, He doesn’t second guess Himself on the decision made to choose us as a wife and mother.

A wife and mother that can glory in her infirmities is a force to be reckoned with. A woman that acknowledges her weaknesses is one step closer to overcoming them. We must name them. Call them out. Then parade them around for our Redeemer to see. We must accept and embrace our weaknesses!

We must be willing to cry out for His help and strength as a replacement. Then, and only then, will the power of Christ rest upon us. Rest. That means His power will stay put, remain, abide with us and our families.

He steps in when we shout our mistakes and imperfections from the rooftops and waive the white flag of surrender. This is when the Holy Spirit intervenes. This is when He takes over the small details of our everyday lives.

This is when He fills in the gaps and the deficiencies. He makes all the wrongs right. He gives us victory over our struggles.

This is what He is waiting for. What are we waiting for?
